Re: 1970 SS CHEVELLE LS5 CONVERT
No one knows exactly, not even Chevrolet/Fisher Body know, but for sure less then 4298.Anything else is a "guesstimate" probably reached through extrapolation.

Re: 1970 SS CHEVELLE LS5 CONVERT
A gentleman named Daniel Carr created a poster with accurate statistical extrapolation to determine an estimate of each model with each engine, but it's not cast in stone - for example, there were more LS6s made than LS5s, so his extrapolation would suggest that there were more LS6 ragtops than LS5 ragtops, and I don't think the reality to be true. While I salute him in this endeavor, I do feel people have misunderstood the "guesstimation" of the numbers and have used them as if they were factual.

Re: 1970 SS CHEVELLE LS5 CONVERT
Another guestimate method is using a known Canadian production figure multiplied by 10 (being Canada's always running an approximate 10% of US population).
Using this method can only be a guide, there's certainly exceptions and it's never going to be an accurate # either way but in cases where Canadian and US #'s are both known the 10% thing has often shown to be close.. PS - this method doesn't work on Cuda's...we got way more than our share for some reason?. https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...lins/beers.gif ~ Pete |
Re: 1970 SS CHEVELLE LS5 CONVERT
It all depends on what year 1970 production or 1990 to 2009 production !!!!! https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...mlins/haha.gif We have discussed this for years its in the hundreds but no one knows for shure !!!!

Re: 1970 SS CHEVELLE LS5 CONVERT
Answer = not many. D. Carr puts it at 91 but even if it's 301 it probably doesn't make much difference. I've looked at what GM was cranking out in similar cars (convertibles) in 1970 and whether it's an Olds W30 or a Buick Stage 1 the numbers are low.

I think there's a big difference between 91 and 301, but that's just me!
