I'm not sure what you mean by date coded correct frt stub. I don't know that I've ever seen a date code other than the ones that are stenciled on a Nova stub. And I've only seen the stencil in pictures. Never ran across one on anything we've had. Sammy has a good shot of the one on his survivor 69.
The pieces you mention are cast pieces. Most cast color will work, it's the application that tends to make them look right. They should have a rough texture, not a smooth look like you get in a normal paint spraying application. Whether it be through a gun, or rattle can, stand back, and dust it on so it's dry and looks like a rough casting. That's my 2 cents. FWIW.

The swaybar is not cast. You can change the shade, and give it a little smoother finish. I've not found a paint that looks like bare steel. If someone has, I'd be glad to hear about it.

Re: 68 nova frame and steering parts color

Chris,

I believe the stenciled dates were only on the top sub frame in the stack. This is because they are not on every car.

As Schonye listed the cast parts should be cast. I have seen evidence on low mile cars that the Sub frame, arms, shafts, and bushings and everything except the springs were coated the black that seemed to wash off quickly.

My 307 swaybar and center link was dipped black. Others I have seen were bare steel.

Thanks guys, just want to clarify that i only meant that the 68 nova ss (date code correct)is only implying that this particular 396 motor I am placing in the car is date code correct.sorry for the misconception.good advice on the cast parts and how to spray them.thanks ,chris
