Found these on the web. Pictures of New Car storage at the now closed Aloha Motors in Honolulu.

Must have been a big dealership. That's a lot of cars. https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...iggthumpup.gif

Re: Old Dealership pictures
Great pictures Jeff. I would say the Island dealers probably had to order inventory in bulk to save on those shipping charges.
I love the third picture, looks like that dude is pointing and saying "Where did that car go" https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...s/confused.gif https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...lins/smile.gif |
Re: Old Dealership pictures
Looks like those must have been taken in the late fall of 61, as there are a few 61's but mostly 62's. Pretty efficient storage system, where you can warehouse a lot of cars on minimal real estate. Makes it a bit tough for consumers to browse the inventory, though https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...ns/shocked.gif

Great pictures Jeff. I had an older neighbor who was a org owner of a 66 SS Nova and he showed me paperwork for the car where shipping was 50 cents from Long Beach CA. He worked for the shipping company at the time. I tried to get the car from him since he was 90 but he promised it to his great grandson who wrapped it around a pole 2 months later https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...s/confused.gif https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...thumbsdown.gif Also Aloha Motors was the largest GM Dealership in Hawaii at the time. A few L78s and COPOs are said to have sold out of there along with one car I keep looking for to prove it urban legend or not https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...lins/smile.gif That one is said to be a dealer trade https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...lins/drool.gif https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...mlins/grin.gif |
