The Supercar Registry - Holley Carb Issues..........

That problem has been around for a while now. Here's some info I copied from the Corvette forum a while back regarding these faulty units;various screen names from the forum omitted out of courtesy:

We recently discovered that some of our zinc carburetor parts (primarily fuel bowls and to a lesser degree metering blocks and main bodies) are exhibiting an unusual level of corrosion on their interior surfaces. Holley is committed to top quality and we will stand behind our products. Let me explain the build date coding a little better. Most of you have nothing to worry about:

Date codes marked 0016 – 1986:
(built from January 1st of 2006 (001) through the 198th day of 2006 (July 17th)

Date codes marked 3345 – 3655
(built from December 1st of 2005 (334th day) through December 31st of 2005

The date code has nothing to do with the quantity built. It's just the date the carb was manufacutured at our plant.

*********, your carb is not affected (0614 is the 61st day of 2004)

*********, your new carb could be affected since is was manufactured January 11th, 2006. Pull your bowls and check it out to be safe. Call tech if you have any questions.

*********, your carb is not affected. (1175 is 117th day of 2005)

*********, your carb is not affected (0965 is 96th day of 2005)

*********, your carb is not affected (3464 is the 346th day of 2004)

Please keep in mind that we expect very few carbs built in this date range will ever experience a problem. Pulling the bowls for a quick inspection will tell you.
