Need help on 1968 Nova L78 exhaust
 

I'm doing research ahead of putting correct exhaust system on my 68 L78 Nova. I don't know if resonators were put on big block Nova's in 68. In looking at the 68 chassis service manual, it shows resonators for Chevy ll and camaro, but does not specify small block or big block. Eric at Gardner exhaust systems recommends no resonators but he is not exactly sure. Does anybody have any input to help either way. Thanks

There were no resonators for the dual exhaust systems on the 68 thru early 1970 SS Novas...the resonators were a mid year addition in 1970. Some of the earlier small block 66-67 cars did have resonators...the Gardner syatems are very good, we have them on a number of our BB Novas.

eric gardner is the guy.as a matter of fact .I still have the original exhaust and tailpipes with the flattened ends of the tailpipe.I sent eric my original rear exhaust hanger;the one in front of the gas tank; to use as a blueprint and I just remember he never sent my a pair of the new repro he promised.Let me know if you need any help.chris teed

Thanks Tom & Chris. Eric does seem like THE guy for knowledge on exhaust. He did say every so often a guy will sware his car 68 or 69 had resonators. I'm one of those guys but I had a 70 L78 Nova (late build)35 years ago so really just guessing with the memory. I'm just reenforcing NOT to use resonators. Thanks Ed
