Restored 70 SS 396 Pricing
1 Attachment(s)
I have a 70 SS 396(350) 4sp, buckets w/console, that I purchased from Scott Wheltman in 2007 for 51k. The car is all black, high quality frame off restored and in showroom condition in and out. It is all matching numbers and correct with all GM sheet metal. It is highly documented with 3 build sheets, protecto plate, manuals, service receipts, etc. Documented owner history since new and photo documentation of restoration. Any help with value in todays market would be appreciated.

[/ QUOTE ] i think you did well buying that car for 51K in 2007, the market today reselling that car would probably be in that 51-55k range, only the drop tops go higher for a 350 hp 396 car.the 396/375 hp cars start higher than $55k if there in the same caliber as your car. my 396 car does not have a frame off done but original body panels/floors and one repaint done in 1993. it has about the same documents you have. i have been offered $46,500 and $48k for my car so far, both offers were in Canadian funds for a 70 SS 396 i have for sale. my car is a high quality/documented/numbers matching car see http://www.chevelles.com/classifieds...41&cat=500 i am gunning to get $50k canadian or $48 Usd for the car,so i am gettting close.the good news is the 2 guys that have come to see the car and both gave me an offer. thats a beauty you have there Scott and welcome to the supercar site.hope this gives you a little info as i am experiencing this right now as i have my 396 car currently for sale. |

James - welcome aboard. Nice looking 'velle. Is that the original color and no stripes?

Re: Restored 70 SS 396 Pricing
Are you trying to sell the car? No matter what the hp is I would think a black 4spd with all of the docs with a full restoration should bring 50k.

Re: Restored 70 SS 396 Pricing
Yes, All black with no SS striping. It really makes for a unique looking car.

And yes, I do need to sell. I shopped all across the country for six months before I settled on this car and planned to keep it forever and someday give to my son. Unexpected job loss forces me to sell.

[/ QUOTE ] sorry to hear that James about your job. just to let you know that i sold my car last night for $48,500 so you should get your money back or more, just be patient and the right buyer will come up with the money. thank god its over though as the tire kickers and third party phone calls and emails were really bothering me. all the best and good luck, also advertise your car a bit higher than what you actually want,to give some room for the buyer to negotiate. |
Re: Restored 70 SS 396 Pricing

Congrats on the sale of your car. At least now I have time to field all the questions and calls when I put it up for sale.
