Al Jardine's (Beach Boys) '71 Hemicuda seized @ BJ
Mopar Collectors Gude "Breaking News" email story dated Friday 15 Jan reported that after the founding Beach Boy's car was dropped off at BJ along with the title for inclusion in the auction, it was subsequently determined that the car's VIN turned up on a stolen vehicle list dating back to the '70s! Car has been impounded by Scottsdale Police. Also mentions that the car may have an issue of having two different VIN numbers on it.

"Davis said the two occurrences demonstrate how Barrett-Jackson protects its customers by thoroughly examining the provenance of every vehicle that comes through the auction."

Re: Al Jardine's (Beach Boys) '71 Hemicuda seized
So as I read this Al Jardine gets a custom built Cuda, but is tired of the car after 3 years. Its gets a nice write up in a Mopar mag and then gets flagged as s stolen vehicle but turns out all is well in the end. Lots of publicity on this car!!! Just in time for prime time. If the car had two vins and the restorer put a new plate with the original vin back on the car. Is all this not come under Vin tampering?
Sounds like another "Baloon Boy publicity stunt". Paul |
