Re: 1965 327-375HP Fuel Injected Shortblock
from my understanding of casting dates that date is for a March 19 1966 block ... also from my limited Corvette knowledge the last FI car was in 1965 ... could the "6" actually be a "5"?

Re: 1965 327-375HP Fuel Injected Shortblock
Something seems amiss as the Vin stamping indicates '65 Coupe VIN 194375S224388 or Roadster VIN 194675S224388 which would be waaay beyond actual production?.
Perhaps check your #'s again as 65 'Vette production ended w/ sequential VIN # S123562.. Also is there no plant digit in the engine build date code...Flint or other?. https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...lins/dunno.gif ~ Pete |

Sorry, I meant C-19-5 not C-19-6. I must have hit the wrong key when putting the information on the website.

Re: 1965 327-375HP Fuel Injected Shortblock
I was concerned with the vin sequence number as well. I did check on the non plant code and noticed on page 39 of Alvin Colvins chevy by the numbers that 65 vettes did not have that plant code stamped on their. Can anybody help me out with the vin number and that plant code not being stamped on the front pad. The numbers look to be real to me and I don't believe this is a restamped block.

Not trying to dispute your engine as genuine but only trying to help understand what the situation could be...
Even if the line worker mistakenly slipped a '2' instead of the correct '1' in at the start of the sequential six of the #'s in the gang holder, it appears even the last five #'s would still indicate over 800 units beyond production?. How's the broaching look?. Also interesting is Colvin's 'no plant note' as just last week I was looking at the #'s of an NCRS Top-Flite Survivor '65 Fuelie and am pretty sure it had the F.. It was also a March engine build but earlier in the month and on casting # 3782870 .. https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...lins/beers.gif ~ Pete -------------------- I like real cars best...especially the REAL real ones! |

[/ QUOTE ] I cannot say I have seen a Corvette SBC of the era that did not start with the "F" in the prefix. All Corvette engines came from Flint. Furthermore, I cannot say I have seen a 327 F.I. car that was not on a 870 block. But, there is always a chance. Could you post some pics of the casting #'s and the deck? Thanks, Tim |
Re: 1965 327-375HP Fuel Injected Shortblock
I was concerned as well when purchasing the shortblock and I'm glad to get some help on this one. The front stamp looks real to me but I also had concerns with the vin stamp and the non plant code on their as well. I will try and get a picture of the front pad and have it uploaded on here if I can. Can anyone assist me with the downloading if I get it to them?

Re: 1965 327-375HP Fuel Injected Shortblock
I do want to add one other thing to this. The passenger car was also built at the same plant as the corvette. Does anyone know how many were built in 1965? I wonder if it is possible that the gang stamp was set for a passenger car and was accidently not changed before stamping it on the corvette application? I don't know what the answer is on this one but wanted to ask that question.
