Was there a discussion about a Nov. built 1969 Hugger Orange Yenko "proto" that was at SEMA ?

Yes it is here somewhere and a tale of it being documented by the GM Heritage museum. It is in a magazine recently and they talk of losing the orig. paperwork. If it is for sale somewhere I would price it as a clone until some real proof shows up.

Hmmmmmm, this same car showed up at the National AACA show in Blacksburg, VA over the weekend. It was going for it's 1st Junior award and caused quite a stir from the judges. Now it is sporting white stripes and a new hood. Will post a pic tonight when I get home from work.

Hmmmmm, is right. The car is definitely not what the owner or restorer wanted it to be. I spoke to some friends awhile back about this car and it definitely was a Z-28 originally, and there is not any documentation to prove it was sold by Yenko. The only Yenko item with the car is an original emblem that was on the tailpanel.

That is the story relayed to me....the owner and restorer say the paperwork was &quot;lost&quot; or &quot;stolen&quot; during the auction of the owners estate. Said that there was supposed to be a picture album and two more Yenko emblems. Not buying this story. Too many people know this car that was owned by a Nashville dragstip owner/operator. My friends were told by people in the know on this car that the paperwork will turn up sometime soon.

I was also told that there are pictures of this car before its restoration that prove it was a Z28, but nothing to prove it was a Yenko converted car, or even a car sold by Yenko. An NICB report needs to be run on it to see if it was delivered to Yenko. Then that might add some value to it.

Will still post a pic tonight showing the new white stripes and hood. I guess what perked my interest is what I said about all the attention from the judges. I also heard the lost paperwork story. Without any documentation I do not know how the judges could accept the Yenko background since &quot;clones&quot; are not part of the AACA rule book. I was not aware of the car's history until today but now a lot of what I heard on Saturday makes more sense. Thanks for taking the time to provide the information.

Probably be something similar to the way he explained away the placard note thanking Alan Colvin for his time and effort &quot;verifying&quot; this car?.

Gotta love how some members here still put the truth before a good story...no wonder why some don't like it here!.

Why would they change the stripes to white when it has a black top? Also what hood did they install? Curious to see the pictures from the show.

Here are two pics from the show. You can see the white stripes, SYC headrests and also the ducted hood pad. The ducted hood with 427 emblems can be seen on the 2nd photo. I apologize for not having better pics to share.

Here is what I do not understand. Granted, the car was shown at SEMA in 2009. At that time, it was advertised as a COPO Engineering vehicle, no stripes, a flat hood (based on hood pad) and a blue Chevy bowtie on the grille. Now in 2010 it has become a Yenko? Would the &quot;lost documentation&quot; contain the missing Yenko connection?

Just my two cents from an original X22 guy.
