1968 camaro fuel and brake line clips on frame

Does anyone know what the correct plating is for the fuel and brakeline clips.I purchased a clip kit from inline tube and they are painted dark red. It does not look correct.I think they are grey or black phosphated or bare steel. Also what is the best way to spread them open to hold to the frame?thanks John

Re: 1968 camaro fuel and brake line clips on frame

On a 69 I think they are green for brake line and light blue on the fuel line side with a few being natural. I think on 68 only one side of the sub has push ins like a 67. I used a punch to open the clips after I had the color and clip location I wanted, get it set then smack it lightly with a hammer to open and set the clips. Here are a couple of picks.
