Info needed on old SBC parts
 

A friend is building a 29 Ford 5 window. He build an old 283 to put in it. He came across some neat stuff. Just looking to pick some brains around here for info on them.

If I recall, The block is from a 61 Corvette and 56 heads, or vice versa. The intake is an old Edelbrock tri power set up with factory rebuilt ford carbs.He was told the casting date is March 55. Which should be early production since the sbc came out in 55.

And what year would these old posters be from? He got them at a local auction. World of Wheels #3 in Springfield, IL.

Maybe I'm reading it wrong, but if it's a pre early 57, it's probably a 265. 283s didn't start until after 57 production was started. The 57 I had was a 265.
Nothing wrong with that. She ran very well. Seems people forget the 265.

Googling on Edelbrock C355 gives you some info. It is for the early 265 CSB engines. A later model C357 is for the 283.

The 265 have very small ports and the C355 matches them.

I think it is a 61' 283 with 56' heads.

The posters are probably an early/mid 80's vintage at best. The show was held at the Prairie Capitol Convention Center (PCCC) which wasn't around in the 70s. I took my kids to one of the earliest shows there and they were probably 4 &amp; 7 years old at the time. That puts it in the 1982 range.
