Anyone going to the RM sale in Scottsdale
I need a car looked at selling no reserve at the RM auction in Scottsdale. Item # 266, a black 1966 Impala 427 4 speed convertible. Is it straight and a frame off restored and what is the originality of the drive train? It is not addressed in the vehicle information. Help would be greatly appreciated.

Re: Anyone going to the RM sale in Scottsdale
I will be there too, but I'm not qualified to verify.
There was a '66 Super Sport 427/390 ragtop at Barrett-Jackson. |

Even so, I would be interested in your impression of the car.

Re: Anyone going to the RM sale in Scottsdale
I saw the car and chatted with the owner - was a nice guy out of FL. It's a 427/390 4-speed AC car, black and red.

Some coverage from the RM Auction. Site is not behaving so I haven't uploaded everything just yet, but it will come, including the Impala in question. Nice to meet ya, Patrick! |
Re: Anyone going to the RM sale in Scottsdale
-----This 390hp with AC car sounds like the one that went over the block about 4 years ago. I was standing next to a guy from Scottsdale that bought that one. I had looked at that particular car and noticed that it was a small-block (283) auto car from new and asked the fella if he was happy with his purchase. He said "yup, Ill drive it around for a couple of years and sell it at B/J again and probably make money". How times have changed!!! This car at B/J may not be the same car but in any case do your due diligence on it as its almost too coincidental........Bill S

Re: Anyone going to the RM sale in Scottsdale
So you mean to tell me that the car at RM was a 283 car originally?
And what were the signs to figure it out? |
Re: Anyone going to the RM sale in Scottsdale
The RM car sold for around 70,000. Sold last at Barrett Jackson in 2003 for $44---. Only 8 miles since then. Trailer queen but had a few issues with originally. Probable restamp.
