Hood latch Phosphate
 

To rePhospate the hood latch Mech out of a can , Is Eastwood's Charcole Gray Phospate to dark or is the Details Bare cast steel a better shade to go.

I would probably send it out. I know that is not the answer you were looking for but most of the time you can tell rattle can phosphate. Do the hinges and the latch and whtever the rest of the front end area needs to be phosphated. I used Seymour's Cast Blast #16-048 on my cars.It's close to the right color,but like Sam said,you can tell it was painted.Eastwood's gray phosphate paint is close also and a good product.If you plan on going to some high end shows with your car,then go with the plating.Nice thing about the paint is you don't have to worry if it's going to rust which they will a little.

I would use Palmetto's phosphating solution and do real phosphate yourself. Very easy.

I agree,try Palmetto's first,as it's very user friendly and gives professional results.
Some guys will tell you they can send it out & have it done for you professionally,but I found are quietly using this instead and charging you more then it costs them.

I have used both the cast blast and the Eastwood product...they both work fine. You have to make sure you blast the parts well and then clean them with solvent prior to painting. I get good results by first using a couple of light coats of primer and then finish with the phosphate or cast paint. Both products dry quickly and hold up well....for a high end resto plating would obviously be the way to go. The Eastwood paint is a little darker than the cast blast.
