Question on RPO coding

What's proper? ZL1 or ZL-1?

I ask because I see ZL-1 on the Camaro Research Group site, but then their reference to the Cowl Induction hood is ZL2. The lack of consistency is not unusual from things I've read in the past, but I am curious what is correct.

Re: Question on RPO coding

I would say RPO ZL1 without the hyphen

IS that a trick question ? Was ZL1 ever an RPO? ...otherwise, I agree with Mikey - no hypen.

ZL-1 [sic?] is an RPO, the same way L72 was an RPO. When ordered for the Camaro, they were COPOs.

At least that's how I see it.

Re: Question on RPO coding

Even Chevrolet was not consistent.

Alpha-numeric option codes as shown on paperwork were never separated with a hyphen. They are listed as Z28, LT1. But for marketing purposes the badging read Z/28 and LT-1. Chevrolet never marketed a ZL1 Camaro but they did build a show car with ZL-1 badging. For 2012 it is badged as ZL1. So take your pick.

It would be totally cool for Chevrolet to deliver 2012 ZL1 Camaro #1 on that historic patch of land in La Harpe, IL.
