Brake Valve Identification and Advice Needed
 

I recently removed a pressure differential valve/distribution block from the left front frame rail of a 1970 Chevrolet Impala. I'd like to understand if the same (or similar) valve was used on any other Chevy or GM vehicles. The InlineTube web site (Product Info) lists several applications (including 1970 Impala), but the valve body in their picture looks a little different than the one I removed. Here's what I removed and how it can be disassembled:

I'm asking because my company (see my sig) is in the business of producing rebuild kits for a small number of brake valves and I'm looking to expand into other applications. I <span style="font-style: italic">can</span> provide the parts to rebuild valves like this one, but I need to confirm two things first:
<ul style="list-style-type: disc">[*]Original applications, and[*]Interest - are people looking to rebuild these valves?[/list]Are the applications listed on the InlineTube page correct? Would you be interested in a rebuild kit if it cost approximately $20 - $25 or less? Do you know of other brake valves that might be worth rebuilding if a kit were available?

Scott, couple of questions??

What symptoms does this valve exhibit when it fails so we know when to rebuild it?

Does the removal tool come with the kit and how do you re-insert the part removed?

If you provide replacement springs, are you able to provide the correct spring rate required so that the performance is the same as the original.

I like your kit and would buy one subjet to understanding the above?

What is the real function of the valve?

</div></div>It could, but it's easy to make from parts bought at your local hardware store. It's probably cheaper to make your own puller. That's why I provided the specs for the bits needed to make the tool. The seat can be press-fit back into place by screwing in a brake line fitting.

Great post - thanks</div></div>It's used to detect a difference in brake fluid pressure between the front and rear portions of the system, usually as a result of a fluid leak.
