7495 mi 1969 Nova 396/375 on eBay..??

I can't exactly tell what to make of this car. Says it has it's protecto plate. 7495 original miles, yet needed a repaint (I guess people have done it before even though should have kept it original) in what appears to be the incorrect mix for Olympic Gold (that or it's a terrible camera).

On top of it, for a 396/375 documented car, isn't that fairly reasonable? Maybe I just haven't been paying attention to the market as of late....

Nice car tho....

Ah, you know, I figured it might have been discussed. If I could ever figure out how to accurately search on the forums here.... And I'm pretty good with searches on the net, etc as well. Oh well, sorry guys....

I would be extremely weary of ANYTHING that has passed through Larry Clains's hands without bulletproof documentation. To put it quite nicely, he wasn't the straightest shooter and anybody that ever had any kind of financial dealings with him knows what I'm talking about. He burned me for some cash personally and put me through a totally un-necessary ordeal several years ago. By the way, this NOT second-hand heresay, NOT personal opinion, but straight-up FACT.

Re: 7495 mi 1969 Nova 396/375 on eBay..??

I went to the auction after Larry passed. I had never met Larry face to face, but we had comminicated numerous times over the years. Kept promising I would get up to Tulsa and have a beer with him. Larry's buddy Perry and I went out for a beer after the auction.

At the auction, I remember Perry showing me the numbers matching L-78 Nova (it was right next to one of the earliest disc brake Corvettes with numbers matching 327). IIRC (no guarantee) the Nova was pretty much just a shell with a motor. No accessories on the motor, and pretty rough. I don't remember checking the mileage. Seems like most of the interior was mia. I know for a fact I took many pics of the Corvette numbers and tags (at the request of one of the members here who collect such data) but don't know if I took any pics of the Nova. If I did, I would still have them on an old hard drive at the office.

As for the trim tag, I am pretty good at spotting the fakes on 69 Norwood Camaros, but wouldn't have a clue on the Nova. However, I think it has clearly been off the car, as the apparent reproduction rivets weren't properly installed and aren't hollow. Will defer to the Nova experts on the actual tag.

Some of you guys can spot a fake POP and docs right away. I would supsect fake docs because that address does not show up as a valid address on zillow.com. Not conclusive mind you, but I am pretty sure zillow has mapped the Cleveland suburbs. Not like it would be out in the sticks. That seems to be one of the favorite ploys of the doc fakers. Use a made up name and a non-existent address.

As stated I am not a Nova expert, so any of you guys who are, please correct any of my misinformation.

BTW, if the tag is a fake, someone who KNOWS might want to warn the seller (Chevrolet Dealer in Blanchard OK) that they are about to commit a crime selling a car with a fake trim tag in Oklahoma. They can legally replace the tag with another replacement, but the tag has to have a stamping on it with the words "REPLACEMENT TAG" in letters measuring at least one-eighth (1/8) of an inch in height.
