Yenko Nova question
Apologies if there is a more suitable location to post this. It is my first post. I am trying to find the location on the trunk to apply the Yenko emblem (1970). I know the front fender emblems go on the side behind the front wheel, but wondering if the trunk emblem goes on the left side of the trunk or where? Also, did one go on the interior, possibly the glove box door? Thanks.

Re: Yenko Nova question
Could be an interesting question. Why do you ask?

Right here.

Re: Yenko Nova question
YENKO emblems were applied with double-sided tape (no posts with pre-drilled holes) so there could be some variablility in where the emblem would end up. But, pass. side rear deck is the general location.
There were no YENKO call-outs in the interior. There was "DEUCE" tape applied to each interior door panel. http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v6...DSC_0134-1.jpg http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v6...a/IMG_7874.jpg |
Re: Yenko Nova question
Awesome Mockingbird. Thanks for the pics. Mine is a 71 Rally, and has the Nova emblem in that location currently. My emblems are also the OEM's with the studs. Would it be wrong of me to put the emblem on the drivers side of trunk, or should I replace the Nova emblem with the Yenko one?
I am making a clone. (sorry) I am going to dress it out as a 70 as far as stripes. Not going to lie or pose it as real. Anyone that knows Yenko's at all would know. I just like the look. Mine is a bright red 71, built 350 "groundshaker" with TH400, 12 bolt posi 373's, healthy cam, ceramic coated headers, 750 HP double pumper, cool-can, 4" cowl glass hood, almost mint original interior, etc. Will try to post pics soon. |
Re: Yenko Nova question
I think it would be cooler just to rock out the OE Yenko badges the way you have them rather than cut them off.
Admittedly, I really don't know all of the types of reproductions ones made. How do you know the ones you have are original? |
Re: Yenko Nova question
It has the Nova emblem on it now. I have repro OEM Yenko emblems to add to the car. They are not 1960's original, but OEM repro's, with the studs and nut/caps. I am just wondering whether to replace the Nova emblem with Yenko, or add the Yenko one to the other side of the trunk, where the dealer logo would have typically gone. But seeing 2 different pics of them and both are on passenger side, I guess that answers my question. Can you honestly recommend putting it on with double sided tape instead of drilling? If the holes from the "Nova" match up, I may as well use them.
Thanks guys. |
Re: Yenko Nova question
OK, just checked and compared the NOVA emblem against the Yenko one and the posts/holes are not the same. I can either remove the Nova one, fill in the hole and hide it with the Yenko, and have it on the passenger side as correct, or leave the Nova and put the Yenko on the drivers side. Suggestions?
Did Yenkos not have a "Nova" emblem on them at all? The pics I have seen have the Yenko emblems on the trunk and front fenders, and some have the front marker bezel with the motor designation, but I never see Nova emblems on them. ??? |
Re: Yenko Nova question
Thank you SS427 also. Didn't mean to leave you out. Beautiful cars.

Re: Yenko Nova question
Apologies again, if i'm answering my own questions as I go, but would still like your opinions. All the Yenko Nova pics I find show variations of a Nova emblem on the front fenders, with a Chevy emblem beside it or below it, with no Yenko emblems on the fenders. Are these clones? Shouldn't real ones have Yenko emblems on the trunk and fenders? Some have Yenko emblems on the lower rear, below the trunk, inside the drivers side tail-light. What is correct, or does Don Yenko himself even know?
