1967-1968 GM 2 Piece Rotors

Has any one bought the aftermarket 2 piece rotors. I see that heartbeat city has 2 designs one made in china for 149.00 and one made in the good old USA for 239.00. Any input on either?

I have my originals I am going to try and have turned. But one looks like it is to far gone. Just looking for a back up plan?

Thanks Jason

Jason, I would check ebay. A bunch of originals have recently popped up.

My Z28 with 135k on the clock had its original 2 peice rotors and rear drums with plently of surface on both. With a good cut we were in business. Can you post photos of yours?

I have 2 sets to work with 1 rotor is way to thin to be re-surfaced. I am bringing three with me to be resurfaced hopefully I end up with a good pair. I will post pictures after I get them all restored. I have one with the 3910881 part number on the back that has holes along the front of the rotor? Anyone ever see that before? Only 1 of 4 where like this??

PS If you read the discription over at Heartbeat City it sounds like the made in china ones are junk. Well that is the way I read it.

Rotors and drums have tolerance specifications. You should have them mic'd by a credible facility before and after they are cut. Dan, I would be hesitant about buying used rotors as they may just be boat anchors.

Regarding HBC, just call Jim Stubbings and ask about the American rotors. When it comes to brake system components, you can't be too safe. If you're going to drive it, use new high quality components. JMO, Ed

2 Piece rotor thickness should NOT go below .965...maybe .960
Throw away items after that... too thin.

Good luck with your rotors! Do you need a NOS GM front caliper brake hose? I only have one as my dog liked the other as a chew toy!!

Well I was able to save all three rotors. The machine shop said .970 was the disgard measurement. He was able to bring all three down to .975. They will do for now. Only one of the three I think was an original. It had the part number on the backside and holes drilled along the face as pictured.
