What air pressure for bias-plys?
What air pressure should I run in old bias-ply tires on a 1970 Chevelle SS for cruising? These are old originals not reproductions if that makes any difference. Thanks.

Re: What air pressure for bias-plys?
Assuming that your Laramie's are considered suitable replacements for the stock tires in 1970, it should be what is on the tire inflation sticker: 26 cold f/r as I recall (single passenger).

Re: What air pressure for bias-plys?
I'm running 28-30 in my Chevelle and the Nova. Both cars are running repro Bias F-70s and they seem to be wearing fairly even.
I had a set of ProTracs on the Chevelle earlier. I ran 32 in the fronts (215-70-14s) and 24 in the rears (275-60-14). Same thing; fairly even wear pattern. |

Re: What air pressure for bias-plys?
My method on a hi-perf car: Run the max recommended pressure that's printed on the sidewall of the front tires. For the rear, find a clean patch of pavement and adjust pressure for a FULL & EVEN width contact patch when they spin. Simple

Great, thanks guys! I've got 30 psi in them and they feel pretty good going down the road but I wanted to make sure. The original tire inflation sticker is loooooong gone.
