1966 Biscayne Restoration

The restoration on this Biscayne is underway. It was originally an Aztec Bronze/Fawn 6-cyl car. It is going to be a 427 replica when it's done. The car was purchased with a 350 in place of the 6-cyl along with a TH400 and a 12 bolt 4.10 Richmond Posi. The 350 was sold right away and a '73 LS4 454 was purchased. The engine already had 11.25:1 LS6 forged pistons and forged rods. An NOS LS6 crank was purchased as well as a Lunati roller cam, stud girdles, 4 bolt mains for the conversion, roller rockers and 950 HP Holley Carb. The idea for this car is simple, as stock looking as possible but run 11's in the quarter.

This is what I am shooting for when it's done. Currently the front clip is removed and down to bare metal and the front suspension is removed getting rebuilt and repainted. The front frame and firewall is down to bare metal waiting for paint. I will post more as progress comes.

All these parts are hard to find. It isn't like a Camaro or Chevelle. All the Biscayne parts seem to be twice what Impala parts are.

I will post some front suspension pics soon. I have all the engine parts, just need to get it assembled.

I have owned just about everything (listed below) I wanted something that was different, a more, no compromising muscle car. I always had the muscle cars that were buckets, console, A/C stuff that wouldn't have been on a car that was bought just for racing. I finally found what I was looking for.

1966 Impala SS
1967 Camaro RS/SS
1969 Corvette
1969 Camaro
1970 Camaro
1970 Road Runner
1970 Chevelle convertible
(2) 1971 Chevelle
1972 Corvette LT1

All it takes is money. I have been doing bodywork and paint all my life and I have done many restorations so this is nothing new to me. It is just about the dollar.

So after a slow start to the year business picked up and more money was put into my project. The engine got assembled and the transmission and front suspension got rebuilt as well. I replaced both wiring harnesses and all parts that will give me a headache in the future like the starter, alternator, water pump etc.

The engine is basically an LS-6, with 11.25:1 forged pistons, NOS LS-6 crank and forged rods. The heads were ported and polished with bigger valves and the roller cam is a custom grind at 238/248 duration .678 lift and a 108 LSA. It is finally running and I am heading over to get 3" exhaust under it and then to the paint shop for body work and paint. It should be done in mid to late Oct.
