Some more vintage pics...Coddington Camaro!

Thanks to cleaning out my garage this weekend...I found some long lost pics!

My step brother Paul had a Camaro that he bought from the original owner and then took to Hot Rods by Boyd (yes, that Boyd Coddington)....and just like the show, it took forever to get done. I know that the paint was a root beer brown color...and the gold was some expensive paint...

The car stayed this way for about 3 months (long enough to go to the Street Machine Nationals in Pomona...and the was rear ended at 50mph by a Nissan truck with 3 drunk Marines from Camp Pendelton.

The Camaro went back to Coddington and emerged months later without a roof (roadster) but with the same basic paint scheme...

I don't remember Paul having it for long after that...and I have no idea what became of it...

Here's the Camaro right after he bought it...at OCIR-stock 350 under the hood...

Here's another one...My sister had a boyfriend (David) who was a big rig mechanic. A long haul trucker traded David a Chevelle for some work on his rig.

What to do with the Chevelle you ask....well, make it into a car to run at Ascot in Gardena-that's what! The Chevelle, before we "modified" it...was an almost perfect red Chevelle....nary a dent on it!

By the way, that's Lynn in the pics with Dave

I have pics of it racing, too...though they suck

How about me in Huntsville Alabama at our house....and our new 64 Impala (notice the sticker on the front bumper...so my dad could get into Redstone Arsenal)

I had just turned 5....

Tomorrow I wiil post pics of my friend Mark's Nova...a car ahead of it's time for sure!

It had an LT-1 with the heads modified for heavy duty springs and pushrods with guide plates. The gas tank was in the trunk, the rear was slightly narrowed (We went to school with some of the Currie family)and the rear rims had some trick backspacing as well. It had a reverse manual valve body and 3500 stall converter. Dual remote oil filters mounted to the inner fenderwell, too. Looked like a granny car until you got on it!

The Nova ran a best of 13.04 shutting it off before the lights due to 3 bent pushrods! LOL

The car was eventually sold to Jim Thomas who owned Genuine Suspension....and we never saw it again....

Here's Marks Nova....what a blast this car was! Engine out for cleaning up.

You can make out the dual remote oil filters on top of the engine. The valve covers are off in this pic. Mark didn't know how to adjust solid lifters...so I had to show him

A close up of the engine....we polished the freeze plugs...LOL

Like I said above, the Nova was sold to the man that owned Genuine Suspension (they made traction bars, etc). Mark's other ride at the time was this...a Datsun mini truck...complete with drilled hubs to accept the Chevy bolt pattern....and it had 15x7 (?) and 15x10 inch polished Centerlines, a front air dam, a tonneau cover, a bitchin stereo...and the Genuine suspension traction bars in chrome with the anti sway bar mounted in between. He also had the cheesy chrome rear end cover...LOL
