ok, isn't this w30 cheap?

I am not an olds guy, but just saw this w30 and thought wow.
somebody should snag it. its black and cool.
I had no idea w30s could be this low in price. is this correct pricing?
potential original motor (only says numbers matching), but says it has protecto plate. triple black. ???

That is about the going price for a driver quality '72 W30 auto Coupe.

It is a real W30 with its original engine. Only 659 coupes ever produced.

POP doesn't tell you the options on 70's Olds, however, the VIN on a '72 does.

It was originally a Silver Car and still a column shift auto.

If you saw it in person you would know why it is priced the way it is.

Still a real W30 for someone.

thanks stephano,

It just shocked me, looked like a lot of car for the money.
I was looking at a 70 challenger over the past days and that car vaporized (sold) in front of me (lift off front end, day2 all the way, plum crazy, dana, real U code, etc). came in went in 1 week. They are selling cars pretty fast out of there, some cool stuff.

I would have kept it the original silver. Too many black cars out there.

Stefano provided good advice. I know that the W30 should have an X in the VIN. I don't see a picture of the VIN and they don't actually say X code. They do say that the W30 option is documented, so I hope it really is an X code. I've seen many bench automatic '72 W30's. I like this year and the W30 option.

Re: ok, isn't this w30 cheap?

Its got an x in the vin. I do think its a good investment for someone. w30, documented, original engine, and the original color (silver) is a great color. body work is probably needed from what the ad says.

I just thought w30s were 50K and up type cars, for 70. So why a 72 is 1/2 price puzzles me.

thanks for the info. nice that stephano already knew this car.

The '72 W-30 that Thornton restored at B-J a few years ago for 40k ? was a better buy imo.

probably add 10% to that for commissions, to be fair.

The bench seat and column shift kind of make it ... your father's Oldsmobile. Tough sell down the road.

That being said, for under $30K, you could have a blast at the Pure Stock Drags! JMO, Ed

</div></div>looks like 47.3k all in, Not bad for a 100k resto not including the inital purchase price of the car.
