A fine example....................................

of why the hobby is more about the people than it is the cars. Jake Dykstra (RPOLS3) stopped to visit today along with his wife Lisa and son Jacob. What a pleasure to chat with. Thanks for looking us up Jake!

All the best!

----I think Ive known Jake since he was right around 4 feet high, and you saw just how tall he is now, Tim. Jakes whole family are some of my closest friends. His Dad Big Jake (the cookie monster) is hands down one of the best people on earth. When Jan and I moved to Chicago Jake and Birdie (his terrific wife) were some of the first people to give us that special "Chicago" welcome. We dont have better friends in the world than in Chicago. That Jake grew up to be a gearhead was pre-ordained. You couldnt escape even if you wanted to. He was going to swap meets before we moved to the windy city along with Big Jake and Jakes brother Dave. I could go on but you get the point. The cars are really just a conduit to friendships that last a long, long time........Bill S

Re: A fine example....................................

Tim (and everyone else) thanks for the kind words.

We were in Tim's neck of the woods for a baseball tournament for my son this weekend and I took a chance that he'd be willing to let us see his fine collection of cars. While the cars were superb - Tim and his wife Tracy were very gracious hosts......I suspect if we did not have to get back to our baseball group that evening we would have been hanging around his shop continuing our bench racing and consuming a few adult beverages. Tim embodies what this hobby is all about - the people. Looking forward to seeing you at MCACN if not sooner.

Jake (Lisa and Jacob)
