I've never seen GM Posi carrier springs like that before. I wonder what the deal is on those?

That could be the first run on 12-bolt positraction and/or GM 4:56 gear set too. The 12-bolt housings were first made in Nov of 1964,the ring gear is dated 11-64 too.
