Advice for a newbe at Mecum Dallas
 

So I decided to put my 1970 L78 camaro into the Dallas Mecum for early next month.
I got a spot +/- 1030am on Friday, lot F25.

Any of you guys that are regular buyers/sellers at auctions have any advice?

Not quite sure what to expect, and how to highlight the car to potential bidders. Any advice appreciated.

I'm not an expert by any means, alot of guys also place an eBay auction and an ad in Hemminhs spreading the word about the car being in the Mecum auction. For the auction, some type of display board with pictures of stamps, casting numbers, documents, underside photos and whatever makes your car unique and brings value.

Stefano would be a good source of info but he is out of pocket. Maybe he'll find time to chiime in.

Rich, I think you have a good time and have already noticed your car on the auction website. Put as much much info that you can on your display board to help bidders know exactly what they are looking at. There are a bunch of neat cars that are going thru that auction.

Please take a picture of the pad and display it if it's an original engine car. Also, any copies of the paperwork is helpful.

That's it. They did add some &quot;disclaimers&quot; on the description. It was certified at the orig 44k miles, but mecum added &quot;Believed to be&quot; 44,000 original certified miles.

I do have a info board and I will check the info on that.

----Rich,,,Stay near your car as much as possible, but not intrusively near. No hovering! You will be able to tell the real guys from the lookers and may be able to answer specific questions that the real buyers may have. If you show how much you like the car others will hopefully see it and respond. I cant tell you the number of cars I have wanted to know more about and there was never anyone around to answer a simple question.....Bill S

I drove for Mecum here in Houston. Lots of bidders came up and asked about the cars while we were in line to go up to the stage. You might want to brief the driver so they can pass correct info on if someone asks(if you are not in the car with them). My son marshalled the cars and you are correct. There was no one around the cars to answer basic questions.

Great info.... Maybe make a flier for the driver as well?

Took some advice and had a professional photographer come out to the warehouse last week, friends son who shoots for Dodge (he did the new Viper) Fiat (the new Abarth) and Top Gear Mag.
