Looking For My Old Car - Don't Know Where To Start
My 15 year old son has his muscle car gene kicking in and it's certainly a great thing. We spend lots of time together in the garage doing light maintenance and talking cars. After lots of conversations about the muscle cars I had as a teenager, he is encouraging me to try to find my first car but I'm not sure where to start. Not just a similar make and model - we want to locate the exact car in whatever condition it may be in today, assuming it still exists.
More specifically, we are searching for a 1968 Pontiac Firebird 350. The car was a blue on blue four speed with a mild cam. Last seen with aluminum slot wheels. One of the ways I can identify the car is by the paint code on the firewall tag as SPECIAL and other identifying specifics. I sold the car in 1974 or 1975 and it was last known to be in Lancaster or York County, PA. Where do I begin? Are there any south central Pennsylvania guys who might remember the car? We know its an incredible long shot but it would sure be a great father and son project for his first car. Hey, stranger things have happened! Thanks in advance for any advice. I can provide a few photos to anyone who might need them as I'm not sure how to post them here. |
Re: Looking For My Old Car - Don't Know Where To Start
Do you have any old insurance documents or registration info with a VIN of the car?

Unfortunately, no. I have no documents whatsoever and the insurance agency I used no longer exists.

Start with trying to remember who bought the car and where they were from.

Thanks. Working my way down that path now but without any luck so far.

I know you don't have the VIN, but perhaps PHS can assist in locating the car based on options?
