Al,
You have to spend a couple of days in Sedona....Beautiful place. Take a drive up 89A towards Flagstaff.
If you've never been to the Grand Canyon...pick a clear day !

Russo-Steele is maybe a 10 min drive so go there also. Smaller but lots of intersting cars. There are a few other auctions but typically older classics or British stuff.

You should consider the Pavillions' Saturday nite cruise [700-800 cars] but there are a couple of considerations. Friday & Saturday nite at B-J is Prime Time; many high-end cars cross the block during that period. The atmosphere is crazy and the ring is packed. Can't be in both places.

If you do go you may be forever ruined. There are several Cruise Nites here in WI but nothing like Pavillions. Phoenix/Scottsdale is home to many valuable collector cars and they are out in force during auction week. I believe the first Saturday is the best because the auctions haven't started. If it is cold that evening [you'd be surprised...] the crowd at Pavillions will be way down. There is a Friday nite cruise somewhere and I'm sure someone will know of it.

X2 on Sedona, even if it is just for the day, easy drive. Make sure drive up to the Airport, great view.
Also the Pavillions Cruise is over the top during BJ.

Cruising on 89A between Prescott Valley and Sedona is a blast, if you rent a good handling vehicle. The scenery is spectacular! Stop in Jerome too, you won't be sorry. Just watch the weather report as it does snow up there from time to time, and 89A will become treacherous.

Pavilions will be crazy busy Saturday during auction week, but worth it! The lot will be almost full around 9 AM! Russo & Steel usually hosts a cruise night 2 weekends before auction week, and Barrett-Jackson hosts the weekend before auction week. This year, it would be January 5th and January 12th.

Enjoy your stay here! Stop and say hi.

The Penske racing museum is very close and free ... Scottsdale Road south of 101, in the Penske dealer complex (Porsche, BMW, Audi, Land Rover, MINI, etc)

Ditto on Sedona and Jerome, remember its January and that is much higher in the mountains, read Winter. You dont want to say "I left Ontairo for this!" The Pavillions is Awesome, also if you want a wrecking yard tour, nothing beats Desert Valley Auto Parts. If you want to stay in the warmer climate try a trip to Tucson and the Pima Air Museum and Davis Monithan Air Force base. And there is always golf.

Thanks for all of the spots to see. I had hoped my brother was going to have his Shelby there this winter, last year he drove down . three 12 hour days. but this year he is bringing his Harley. at least the car would have been cool to tool around in and fit the four of us. none the less we will have a icredible time.
