The end of an era, ACES closing it's doors

I know quite a few guys here are members of ACES, American Chevelle Enthusiast Society. In the new issue on Chevelle World it was announces that as of the end on the year it will be shutting down. CB12 was the last Chevellabration. Chuck and LaRae have done a lot for the Chevelle hobby over the years. I wish them the best in whatever their future holds for them. Below is the link to the discussion on Team Chevelle about this.

I always liked Chuck. Once you meet him, he remembers you and greets you with a big, genuine smile and a strong hand. I know the loss of Cam hit him hard and I saw a change in him. He's a good man and I wish them well in the future.

What a run it was......so many friendships, so many drags, so many meals (to this day I still miss that corn bread) so many pictures, so many laughs, so many awards, so many banquets, so many road side blunders (One rolled RED Chevelle - no one got hurt), so many times up for seconds and thirds for the Jambalaya. The only two times I missed CB was my wedding and the year our daughter was born.

Chevell-Abration will NEVER be DUPLICATED! This was a once in a life time event. I will miss the show, I will miss all my friends. Hope to see you all soon at a regional show or two.

Hats off to everyone that made CB a Special Time for all of us. Chuck and LaRae Ya`ll Take CARE! Now you won`t have anymore excuses to attend my `69 Chevelle Party!

Thanks for the memories!

Although I never attended Chevellabration, I got the distinct impression that for the past several years, the main reason for the existence of ACES was to put on the Chevellabration. And since that event, in and of itself, was not a massive money maker, it was pretty much a foregone conclusion that ACES would not go on forever. It was my pleasure to have met and known Chuck a couple times over the past 30 years (even sold him a Chevelle once!) and he was truly a good guy. I wish him and LaRae all the best.

I am going to miss my trek to TN every year. Chuck is a great guy and good friend. He plans on still attending some of the Regional Chevelle Events.

Hi all,

Lots of outpouring of positivity towards the Hanson's on Team Chevelle, as it should be.

How do I get an invite to Dan's 1969 Chevelle Party, sounds like a dream I had recently.

In 1987 I bought my first 69 (Beaumont white/black Top/Green interior/Chevelle front clip/rust infested) at 15 years old, bought another 69 (Beaumont green/green top/green interior) in 1993 at 21 years old, I bought another 69 (Chevelle) in 1996 at age 23 still have it today at age 40.

My California built (survivor/driver/needs paint/325hp/auto/LeMans Blue/Black Top/Gut) 69 is going up for sale in the spring, so I can buy a (L78 4spd restored or original) 69, so I may be "69less" for up to 14 months.

That is a "dry spell" I am not looking forward to.

Tee Hee,

Ryan
