UPDATE...12/8/1968 Flashback
Okay Darren, here's the gospel truth on the Yellow car. Yea, I'm still in shock too! So, here's the chapter that Bob just told me......(someone, turn up my oxygen valve)
<span style="font-style: italic">"Jeff, over the weekend I got the rest of my pictures that were at my ex's house. My oldest daughter understood the importance of these pics and knew they were mine. There were a lot of pics from my teen years with car, motorcycle, party and racing pics. The last post on my Birthday thread stated how that vintage pic was priceless. The enclosed scan of the 69 Camaro is truly priceless. They were taken at the same time as the 1st pic you showed. I've always known but didn't have the pics to back it up the fact that your car was ordered with the aluminum heads L-89 option. Now we have those pics to share. Its one of 311 L-89 Camaros ,but i've always heard maybe <span style="font-weight: bold">1 of 14 L89's with an auto trans</span>. That engine was pulled and sat on the parts department floor and as far as I remember was parted out. Well , you're probably sitting there shocked and taking oxygen by now,so take a deep breath and let it all sink in . I'll be talking to you....Bob</span> http://i141.photobucket.com/albums/r...sc/image-8.jpg[/i] |

Great car!
I took the liberty to "restore" the car, well just the pictures. http://www.protouring.se/files/jeffs-L78-1.jpg This one didn't have that much yellow in it to enhance. http://www.protouring.se/files/jeffs-L78-2.jpg Jan |

Awesome pictures - look at the orange overspray on the exhaust manifolds - with the aluminum heads. Did they mask the heads.....?

Re: UPDATE...12/8/1968 Flashback
The fun part of looking at these old pics is picking out the assembly oddities ,the upside down T ,the careless AIR pump hose routing thru the heater hoses and stretched across the heater hose bracket . The hoses and wiring just tossed together enough to make it out the door, makes me chuckle everytime a discussion about what is correct and whats not. Also check the deck lid sitting about 1/2 inch high.Remember these pics were taken about 5 hours after the car came off the transporter. The smudges and dirt on the engine were still there from being assembled at the factory, all we had done is ck the oil ,bolted the wheels on and hit the road.I had worked at Chevy and Pontiac dealerships since I was 13 years old and could write a book just on screwups that came from the factories.
