Another LS6 found
1 Attachment(s)
With all the recent car finds I thought I would post this recent one that was just purchased by a fellow member. I and a few others found this 2 owner LS6, M40, 3.31 car in central Illinois several years ago. I as well as others had been trying to buy it but the owner was asking too much money. Last week another friend of mine who lives nearby the owner decided to stop in and talk to the him and lo and behold he decided to sell and for a LOT less money. You snoooze you lose as they say. Upon arrival home a build sheet was located and a lead given to get the original window sticker and POP back. All original sheet metal except for drivers fender and NO rust. The car had not been licensed in many years. What a find especially at that price (private but suffice to say SS396 money). Car has headers, a flex fan, counter Holley and intake and other assorted speed items and an original Motion decal in the rear quarter window. I am trying to get him to bring it to MCACN next year.

Re: Another LS6 found
Great car! Is it a stripe delete car on the build sheet?

Wonderful. Nice package! Congrats to the new owner!

Re: Another LS6 found
D88 was an option so it could not be deleted. It is an original non striped non flapper car. Also, sorry for the confusion I originally listed the trans incorrectly. Car is originally an open element "SS" air cleaner. I will be going up shortly to do a photo shoot on the car for a magazine feature and will post more photos when I get them. Neat story behind it as well.

Re: Another LS6 found
I have very similar LS6 in the shop right now other than it is a bench seat car. It too did not originally come with stripes or cowl induction. I am showcasing the restoration here LS6 restoration for anyone is interested as there are a ton of detail photos and interesting finds.

Re: Another LS6 found
I just read through some of that post and checked out your website. Wow, excellent work.
A shame that LS6 couldn't be saved as a survivor, but I am sure it will look unbelievable when you're done. I like your comment about the importance of details. We went to a cruise in Naples, FL last week and there was a nice 62/63 Belair that was nicely modified from 10-15 feet, but when you got up close they really just didn't pay attention to details and that almost ruined all of the work done. It looks like they got it 97% done, then gave up and painted it so you could see scratches, bondo edges, etc. right through the paint. A shame, really. |
Re: Another LS6 found
Thanks Mark, that car really was not a survivor just a very old restoration that made it look like a survivor as per my posts in that thread.
