Re: Yenko block on Ebay.
They['re saying 74 (and I'm sure Mark G will chime in here) But if I'm remembering correctly those versions were much later than that.

Hum....the YENKO lettering looks odd.

Re: Yenko block on Ebay.
It almost looks like the Yenko letting was added at a later time. Were they all like this?

Re: Yenko block on Ebay.
Called the seller as I'm from Canada and there is NO SHIPPING to Canada. So on the phone and he said he would end early IF I meet his reserve of $8,000.00. Had no real info and didn't seem like he even wanted to sell.

Re: Yenko block on Ebay.
That little set core that makes the "YENKO" lettering got placed incorrectly & had way too much core wash brushed on it. I spoke to David about this listing because the eBay ad says that it was cast @ Tonawanda. Of course, that's not correct.

Re: Yenko block on Ebay.
I always thought Yenko bought the molds from GM and had the blocks cast at different companies in the 70s. I thought there were different configurations available depending on bore size and block height needs. I understood some of the blocks came with the Winters snowflake with the GM part number still on the block, some had the SYC crest, some had YENKO cast in the front and some had no markings at all.
This always confused me because I also heard the story how the GM engineer found the original molds for the ZL1 blocks in the trash at a GM plant and reworked them. Then GM reintroduced the current 053 aluminum big block from the updated molds. |
