Forum Spam

It seems that there have been quite a few spam posts lately. Maybe a step could be added to the forum registration process to make it a little tougher for these guys or bots or whatever it is to join the site.

Re: Forum Spam

You can set up barriers for robots but today there are manual robots, i.e. real people in a far away country doing this for a living. Since they can read and make their own decisions the only way to block them is to set up IP-number blocking from that part of the world.
That can be a problem since they often hide behind legit IP-numbers. I have seen spammers with American IP-numbers.

The other way is to have manual approving of new members, it demands more work for site owners but it is the best way. Then you can send the user emails and ask some basic questions to verify if the user has a real intent for visiting the site.

Or you live with it and delete spamming posts...
