12 bolt rear end cover
Does any know if the 12 bolt rear end covers that have the additional bearing cap supports really strengthen the rear end? Does it help the strength and stability of the ring gear or is this just a gimmick? Just curious if anyone knows. Thanks!

Old drag racer down the street from me swears by them.

They work, but are too modern for my taste.

Re: 12 bolt rear end cover
They do help. A billet cap (drivers side first, both preferred) and upgraded cap fasteners should be first on the list though. Ditching the crush sleeve in favor of a solid spacer is also a big help as is welding the axle tubes to the housing.

Re: 12 bolt rear end cover
Yes they work a guy I know has a 57 chevy wagon with a big block glide and 17X33 tires it prolonged the ring and pinion life drastically .... So if you run a 12 bolt I would recommend they work I think his is a T/A brand and has had it since around 1990 ... I would install it and paint it black and it would probably blend in ...
