Re: 1111499 Distributor Question??
Nice distributor Al. My opinion is it's original. Known date as well.

Chris,
Thanks for the response. Al |
Re: 1111499 Distributor Question??
One way is to measure/mic the outside diameter of the distributor. I have the measurements from unmolested distributors on a different thread somewhere.

Re: 1111499 Distributor Question??
JMO, I too think it is a good stamp, someone may have got a little carried away with the detail work, maybe in a lathe ?

Re: 1111499 Distributor Question??
How did they get the number/letter stamps so clean? Thats what makes it look like a restamp. It has the exact same characteristics of a 499 I have with the same date.

Re: 1111499 Distributor Question??
The corners on the 4 look funny like they are deeper then the rest of the four like somebody added them after the fact. They also look to deep especially since it looks like someone torned the distributor on a lathe.

Re: 1111499 Distributor Question??
Like Kurt said - I'd mic that one.

Re: 1111499 Distributor Question??
x3 Mic it. There is no reason the outside should have been turned down even if it was to "clean it up" How did the depths of the numbers get so clean as well?

Re: 1111499 Distributor Question??
Whatever was used to clean or polish it seems to have made marks on the bottom of the cap all around the circumference. The distributor itself Looks real to me,is a known date, and is priced reasonable. I dont think anyone would "turn" the area above the hold down clamp to match the rest of it, as that area looks like the stamped area. lastly the 90 degree ends of the stamp surface dont reflect any significant removal of material IMO
