Re: Mallory Photocell Distributor
The Unilite is a finicky unit. They are VERY tempermental and go bad often. You can buy a replacement unit that is yellow instead of red called an E spark. If you do not have a very good ground they fail often. You can get instructions off mallorys web site still. I have a magnetic pick up dist. in my street car.

Re: Mallory Photocell Distributor
They were famous for ghosting themselves if installed without a ballast resistor.

Re: Mallory Photocell Distributor
I know somewhere on here there was a picture of an NOS Mallory I R distributor setup, but I can not find it. I thought maybe that would help me? Also, I had put a call into Mallory, thought maybe I could help them help everyone else with all the paperwork I have from a lot of the NOS stuff that I have? We shall see where it goes.

Re: Mallory Photocell Distributor
Pretty sure I have a Mallory Unilite in my Yenko, never had a problem with it. At the time, it was much preferred since all the Pertronix guys were pulling their hair out over the Made in Mexico stuff!

Re: Mallory Photocell Distributor
Marlin, I just did a 40yr old NOS solid state Mallory conversion on an old points distributor last week. I can tell I have a junk alt. That's what burns them out.
