Can I Paint a car for $10K?
I've been out of the loop for quite a while and have completely lost touch with pricing. Am I dreaming to think that I can get a rust free car stripped and painted for $10K - $12K to really nice driver quality? The car is a low mile, rust free '67 Camaro that will not need a color change or panel repair etc. It just has an amateur paint job with the incorrect stripes that I would want to correct if I got the car. Thanks in advance for any help provided

Re: Can I Paint a car for $10K?
Thanks for responding Ed. Yes, base clear and the jambs and trunk lid painted. PM me your email and I'll send you a few pics of the car. It had a nice paint job on it, but it was the wrong shade and the owner wanted to make it right. He had a "buddy" do the car and it has fish-eyes and dust etc. in the paint now. I want to make it a nice cruise night type car for now and then do a total resto when I retire or have more time.
Ban617...it is Bolero Red now and that's what I would repaint it to also. |

For what you want yes, you should be able to get it done.
It takes me approx 150-200 hours to go from bare metal to mirror finish. https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/pics...3-102b6830.jpg https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/pics...4-102b6801.jpg https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/pics...5-100_7882.jpg |
Re: Can I Paint a car for $10K?
I would think so. My restoration guy least amount charge is 5k just paint. We test painted a few Bolero red from different company's on the side cowl behind front fender which still retained the original paint til we found the one I thought matched best.I absolutely love it. It was painted in late 2007 and finished in fall of 2009. I took it to a local car show and came home with best GM. The paint looks as good today as the day I picked it up. If the link works here are some of the restoration pics. Oh it is a single stage not base coat clear coat. 67 rs/ss 396 Bolero red
