Trumbull Chevrolet was in the core of Detroit, near the old Tiger Stadium IIRC. Believe it closed in the mid-70s.

I remember a old friend bought a new 69 COPO Chevelle there right after high school....really didn't know much about those cars then....but it ran like a beast. Was always stored. Don't know where it is today.....as he passed in 1989 and he still had the car stored away.

Black with a black vinyl top. Funny thing was, he went there with his Dad who was a GM employee at the old Cadillac plant down the street. He was looking to by a SS396. The salesman told him of this chevelle that apparently they were having a hard time selling because it was loaded....bucket seats, tilt, TH400 console, AM/FM stereo etc. He never modified it in any way. He later bought a new Corvette in 1971 and the Chevelle got stored right next to his grandmothers 63 Impala. both cars were only driven once in a while. Remember the old days of cruising Telegraph road (the Detroit guys here will remember that). A lot of guy's would get a big surprise when they challenged him to a race....(no SS 396) on fenders obviously....again not too many people realized what these cars were.....hell nor did I. He brought it over just after he got it...I'm looking at it...no ss badging anywhere....asked him what the heck is this ? (could hear the lumpy exhaust and solids )...until he popped the hood....and as they say....the rest is history. By the way.....there were a few of these running around my area back then.

Thanks Tony.

My step-fathers '68 Camaro was sold from here. I was hoping to find something from the dealership to give him for Christmas. Jason.

Doesn't look like there is much out there.

Yes....the dealership sold out to what was a used car dealership at one time....not sure whats there now......along with Tiger Stadium being torn down quite some time ago.

Trumbal sponsored some drag cars back in the day. I remember a 66 SS396 chevelle that had Trumbal sponsorship.

I have lost touch with his family....both parents have passed, wife remarried....last i heard his brother had both cars....but i do not know his whereabouts. A shame....because i offered to buy it shortly after he passed....but they wanted to wait awhile. That car still smelled new the last time I saw it a few years before he got sick.....covered inside and out with blankets, heated garage etc. If my old memory serves me right....it had under 2,000 miles on it !!!!!
