Do those for Chevys look like this?

I ask because this is for an Olds and there's a field for COPO, which I understand to be a Chevy-only ordering channel.

I suspect Fisher used the same broadcast cards for all the brands, hence the COPO reference but I dunno....anyone?

The COPO title refers to Central Office Production Order...this was GM's channel for ordering fleet and special order cars and trucks. It was primarily used for non-standard options like special paint on a fleet of trucks...or perhaps HD equipment for police cars or taxi cabs, etc. Dealers like Yenko and Gibb also used this to side step the normal engine size limits to produce the cars that we all love to dream about today.

Any GM division could place a COPO order, thus the COPO heading on your Fisher Broadcast sheet...Chevrolet got the most attention in this area, primarily because of the performance cars they produced.

It would be great to see some stories about COPO vehicles from some of the other divisions...not sure I've ever seen anything like that before.

I'm not sure Fisher used the same broadcast cards across all brands.

For example, the build sheets within the Pontiac nameplate varied between final assembly plants (ie, a Fremont build sheet was different than a Pontiac Michigan build sheet).

We also know that Pontiac did not use the &quot;COPO&quot; nomenclature, instead referencing &quot;memo&quot; lines on the build sheet to authorize special content or deviations from regular production. I am surprised to see it on an Oldsmobile document.

This is interesting.

Notice there's no marque associated with the broadcast card.

I'm still not convinced that the COPO channel was an all-GM thing.

FWIW, the W29 designation under the COPO, etc. heading is for the 4-4-2 package.

There were a lot of Chevrolet/Oldsmobile car dealers under the same roof back then.More then any other GM dual brands that I can recall.Sorta like catering both ends of the customer spectrum..young &amp; old.
COPO may have been recognized by Fisher Body for that reason as well,which would explain why this Fisher Body issued sheet shows it...at least during that 1971 Oldsmobile model year.
If they started to see an increase in COPO ordered vehicles,Fisher Body may have adjusted their paperwork to reflect that too.Mass quantities of any GM built emergency,service &amp; fleet vehicles would fall under that.

I would read too much into those two codes being listed under the COPO heading. If it was a true COPO, you would see more info than that on the card

No, it's not about the car in question being a COPO - it's about which brands used the channel for fleet and other special orders.

I think it's possible Fisher used the same card for several brands. The guy who owns the car(d) thinks that Oldsmobile used the COPO channel, and here is his proof. He's not making a claim that this car is COPO.

What makes you think that's a Fisher Body Broadcast Copy rather than an Oldsmobile BC?

Because it doesn't say Oldsmobile on it for starters. And because the owner says it is a Fisher Broadcast Card.

Plus, I have the belief - right or wrong - that COPO is a Chevy thing and not shared with other GM divisions. It's an interesting mystery that I thought would have an easier answer.

How about some owners of 68,69 and 72 Hurst Olds chiming in to see where their W45 Or W 46 was located on the Bc. There cannot be anything closer to a fleet order than one of these Olds.
