1970-77 A F X Quarter Drop Extension drain plug?

I bought these green plugs from e-bay for the trunk drop offs on the 70 TA I am restoring. They fall right out either 2 small or the hole on the goodmark drop off is to big. So I called the company I bought them from to see if they had a manufacturing problem or people calling to say they are 2 small. All they could say is, they are built to direct factory replacement and they sell a lot of them. I said have you ever tried them in an aftermarket panel before. She couldn't answer that question. Of course she blamed the after market trunk drop off panel manufacture. She said a lot of people use them for there restorations. But I said if they are using aftermarket parts they won't work. So with that being said has anyone else ran into this problem. What did you do to hold the plugs in place? Just makes me sick running into simple problems like this.

The green plugs originally had a foam rubber gasket with adhesive on both sides. This is what held the plug in place. Did you get the correct 70-73 Firebird-only dropoffs? A lot of idiot vendors label the Camaro dropoffs as fitting the early Firebirds. Same goes for the 74-76 Firebird dropoffs. Totally different pieces.

They looked identical to the ones I cut off. Except for that hole I guess. They were goodmark quarters drop offs and outer wheel wells. I think I still have one of the originals in the metal pile I will have to dig it out and measure the hole diameter. The plug has a felt washer but no glue. It looks like it is supposed to twist into the hole. It has tabs formed into it like its supposed to snap in.

Steve did you get my PM I sent you on spoiler?
