1959 MG
Any British "muscle car" enthusiasts out there? Hoping to set an appointment to see this car. What should I look for? What do these go for in nice driver condition(pix to follow)?
Thanks! |

Re: 1959 MG
Fun cars, even if horribly underpowered (even with the B engine).
Looks like a bit of a project. Three words: rust, rust, rust. Look for signs of old rust, any new rust, any poor rust repairs. I would get on an MGA site and lurk. See what guys run into when restoring. |

Re: 1959 MG
Checked the car out yesterday. What wonderful lines these cars have and so mechanically simple. The car appears to be mechanically sorted out (except for an unavailable 2nd gear) and appears to be rust free on 1st inspection, but was (very) amateurishly restored quite a few years back - I was hoping for original condition. I will most likely pass on this sports car. On the other hand there were some way cool tools that may be available. Nice old Dayton grinder with stand, Craftsman variable speed (circa 1950) drill press, and a very nice Blackhawk 4-ton floor jack - all in nice condition. Owner has to check with nephew who has expressed interest (but no $ so far).
Thanks for your (amusing) feedback! |
