ZL1 suffix code on a 512 block?
 
What do you guys suspect happened here? Iron service replacement block for a ZL1? Looks like it was cast late 1969. Pretty cool and fairly priced IMO.

not ZL1 it's a cast block. seller says corvette. and i can see a "t' where 'M' IS. Like it was TE ?

That was my point, zl1 code on an iron block. Has been sold I see. Did anyone here get it?

I had a real ZL1 block that had the same stamp..with the line above the M..

Cool, the stamp looked authentic enough to me. Now I wish I had bought it as a conversation piece!

Maybe an original zl1 owner blew up his original aluminum motor and told the dealership he wanted an iron block instead?

Were that the case, wouldn't it be a CE coded block? </div></div>yes. I would think that would be the case. The above post says there was an original zl1 with the same stamping. Maybe there was a separate stamping procedure for these special motors?
