Nova Frt Bench Seat Question
Need some help folks
Does anyone know off hand or possibly have someone I could call who would know the difference in front and rear bench seat assemblies between years for a early 70's Nova Coupe's? I have a 73 seat assy ,and wonder if more readily available color covers form 70-71-72 will work as well??? Thanks |
Re: Nova Frt Bench Seat Question
The seats themselves look the same with the exception of the removable head rests. We have covers listed for different groups of years but I believe it is because of the patterns for each individual years. I'd say maybe try calling Ecklers 1-800-853-6362 or Ground up 1-866-358-2277 just to check the specifics

Re: Nova Frt Bench Seat Question
Agree w/SMOKIN_JOKER -- be careful attempting to put upholstery/covers on seats they were not designed for ... example, installing 70 covers on 73 seats. The seats may appear to be the same but may have slight differences. Things like head rests (already mentioned), seat back lock, etc. are different from year to year. Call around as indicated by SMOKIN_JOKER ... TAZ

Re: Nova Frt Bench Seat Question
Be careful putting a '73 seat assy into a '70 Nova, make sure the mount positions line up. The '73 body was a little different, I know the trunk pan was quite different and I suspect the interior floor boards were too. I tried to put a '73 rubber mat into a '70, and the seat belt holes didn't line up - so I suspect the seat anchor positions might be different as well.

Re: Nova Frt Bench Seat Question
I think I need to further explain what I am trying to accomplish here
I am actually working a on a low mileage 73 Buick Apollo Issue is they aren't exactly revered for parts reproduction or ownership. lol I have the original 73 bench seat going into the original 73 vehicle Closest thing for repro parts is a a NOVA, so........................................... The issue is there seems to be more color and pattern choices in earlier years being reproduced ,so I was hoping to be able take advantage of mass production choices is all A friend of mine owns a 72 Nova w only 40k original miles. He was kind enough to let me take measurements of the seat the other day and they sure seem the same to me. I realize how tight the material is pulled, amount of foam used ,etc plays a roll but the measurements were within a 1.2 in or so everywhere as well the headrests seem to be in the same location, etc Just hoping for something to be easy for once is all Thanks Nick |
