L78 Piston Options
Im going to be assembling a 69 L78 6223 crank, 272 396 block, 3/8 dimple rods. What are my options for pistons? If im correct, the L78 was 11-1. I will be using 840 heads. The block is STD bore

Re: L78 Piston Options
Speed Pro L2242F but not sure if they offer a standard bore piston or IIRC Eric offers up some alternatives.

Casey;
Your options are wide-open depending on your needs. Give me a call if you'd like and I'll see what I can do. Eric |

Re: L78 Piston Options
I'd vote for getting that standard bore straight and getting a custom set of pistons from Eric.
Might end up .010 over but I just can't imagine settling for a loose fitting stock high compression piston that is detonation prone (questionable on pump gas), way too heavy and the combo of virgin bore and stock pistons probably will not yield the best ring seal. |
