flat spot in power steering box

seems like the original PS box in the L78 Nova has developed a "flat spot" You turn the wheel, it turns normally, continue to turn and it "skips" (no engagement) then catches again and continues to turn normally. This is the original fast ratio box. I did turn the adjustment screw down a quarter turn and same deal (they say not to tighten this too much, only so much adjustment) available). My question to the steering box gurus, is it a worn gear or worn housing/box.? Thx in advance

Kidding aside - make sure belt tension is correct ... have someone watch pulley as you are turning the wheel ... see if it stops mementarily ... TAZ
