Need advice and info on 1969 AMC AMX
Hi everyone. The gentleman I worked for recently passed away and his wife has asked me to help her with selling some of his car and motorcycle collection. Part of that collection is a 1969 AMC AMX. The car is original unrestored but has had some things done in the engine compartment. Before I put the car on the market I would like to go back to all OEM components. If anyone has any photos of a correct OEM engine bay I would like to see them. Also If anyone has any of the OEM parts I need for sale I would like to buy them. I am posting some photos of the car and am open to advice and opinions on this project. I know that the ignition system, exhaust, air cleaner, cam shaft are not OEM. Thanks in advance and look forward to getting this thing done and in the hands of a happy new owner.

Put it on the market as is; the time and money you will spend finding those pieces and "correcting" what is there is NOT going to earn extra dough come sale time because it is neither original or unrestored. The bumpers and that awful custom interior are waaayyy bigger deals than that power steering pump.
I feel bad for the widow. This kind of thing is happening more and more these days as baby-boomer hoarders pass to the great beyond and leave their loved ones with garages & barns full of question marks. It's nice of you to help. |
Re: Need advice and info on 1969 AMC AMX
ive owned a bunch...
and i agree..sell it as it is and move on.. theres many people that would love to have it as it is...the cost to correct will prob be lost... id get on ebay and see whats what and price accordingly.. it is a 390 4 speed car originally..thats the selling point.. |

Thanks for the input. No other AMC's for sale.

I agree with selling the car as is. To put the interior back to stock will cost you $3000 plus. Add $1000 for bumpers, $300 for an air cleaner and you are still not 100 % correct. It appears to be a nice driver though.
