70 Nova Battery Cables
 

My car has it's original battery cables which must be kept (can post pictures with numbers as/if requested). Unfortunately, after beating up my spring ring connecters long ago I changed them out for the ones you buy at the hardware store. I'd like to hear your thoughts of how to restore my cables by putting the spring ring ends back on and the best way(s) to accomplish this. Part two of my question - does anyone have or sell just the spring ring connector terminal ends which I need for my swap?

I wouldn't mess with trying to re-attach the correct ends onto your old original cables.
Keep them on a shelf for reference,but buy brand new complete authentic reproductions from American Auto Wire.

They are the best & have the correct details like part# & two letter suffix on the cables,both in the right font,as well as the right length for your '70 Nova.

Many reproduction parts houses buy from them & relabel them as their own.
I recommend buying directly from American Auto Wire,and for less $ too,as they know their shit and stand behind it with years of technical experience and many factory examples & blueprints.

Thanks Mr70. I definitely don't want to repeat what others have learned from the school of &quot;hard knocks&quot;. I will contact American Auto Wire, but, just to be a bit of a troublemaker, I'm going to ask them what numbers will be printed (my originals also feel lightly imbedded?) on the cables to see what they say - even although I know what I need them to be and look like!)

I hear ya Diamond..But many customers don't have the luxury of knowing what exact battery cable # or length their car came with originally.You're already ahead of the game in the sense.As you can see in that link I included,it shows many different 1970 Nova applications.If you know your part # already,I'd just give it to em early on and save you &amp; them time &amp; trouble of digging through their inventory and possible call backs too,as happened to a friend of mine.
Those that can't relay a part #,AAW will ask specific questions about the cars details and try to cross reference it in their parts books.
There are anomaly exceptions too,as in my case which is an early built &amp; brief 1970 L-78 Chevelle and my buildsheet calls out for specific 1969 Chevelle cables in box #50 &amp; #51.Not the more common L-34 or LS-5,LS-6.

I still have the original cables on my 70 L34, + cable is 8901532LE and - cable is 8901629NJ. Are these the numbers you have??

That's an exact match with my numbers! Maybe I could ask you to look at something on your Nova for me. I have two clips that I pulled out of a bag labeled &quot;Radiator Shroud Clips&quot;. I just can't find them anywhere in my pre-disassembly pictures, so I'm at a loss right now to know where to properly replace them.

Page 313 in the assembly manual shows a good picture. There are two different clips. The one you show is the small style clip that connects to the driver side lower tank bracket. On the pass.side, the clip is bigger, which connects to the tank bracket, wraps around and connects to the tank. That's about the best way i can describe it. If you don't have a 70 assembly manual, get one for $20.00.Hope this helps...

My bad. I should have mentioned that the two lower clips that you found and describe I already have in place. These are two additional (upper?) clips I guess. If they don't obviously show up in the Assembly Manual, then I'm still at a loss at this point.

I was hoping you would be able to locate these same two clips somewhere on your Nova. Thanks, appreciate your efforts.

If the clips i described are already in place, then those two pictured are for something else. There are only two clips used and for the top, it's bolted to a bracket that attaches to the top core support.

They Look like horn wire retaining clips like I have on my '70 Chevelle.
