Muncie Shifter Issue

Perhaps, some can shed some light on a problem I am having. The Muncie shifter in my 68 Camaro will not allow me (all of a sudden) not shift into reverse. It is like the gate (to move it to the left before shifting up) is not there.

Anything I should be looking for? Otherwise, it shifts 1-4 just fine.

Thanks,

Tim

Re: Muncie Shifter Issue

The reverse detent spring loaded button is likely the problem...

Theres an open spring that loads the shift lever to the 3-4 gate, you have to over come that spring to get to the 1-2 gate...

Once into the 1-2 gate you have to over come the reverse button also...

Or any number of things(broken reverse lever in shifter, dirt or debris, etc)...

Hope this helps... Crash

Also check to make sure you can shift the transmission into reverse manually using the lever only with the rod removed.
