4spd or not ? 1972 camaro
 

Could anyone with (more experience )shine light if this was a factory 4spd or automatic? Floor has been hacked up and no hump has 4psd pedals and bracket look like they were always on the car,as well as steering column .
Also Has no brackets or sign that it ever had console

If not evidence of floor Hump Spot welds ......
then I'm not sure how you could tell for sure.

What about window in dash gauge area, where Auto Trans Gear D,P, R 1.,2 would have been ????

The dash gauge bezel has no shift indicator ,and can not see any spot welds on floor were a hump was.

Between the TWO large circular openings (Speedo and Tach or Speedo and Gauges)
there is a small rectangular/vertical opening where the Auto Trans Gear position selector sits.....Four Speed cars had this "window" covered by Black Tape (from back side)

The factory opening under the "hump" is quite large...I would estimate larger than the hacked hole in your trans tunnel, but that's subjective. Check the inside driver's subraframe rail...there are three punched holes in a triangular pattern where the back drive bracket would mount. Check these holes closely to see if they've been threaded. Only manual trans cars would have these holes threaded. Not proof-positive, but another potential indicator.

All of those holes around the shifter hole looks like the layout of the spotwelds for the factory shifter hole plate.

There should be some slag around the cut out area. They did use a torch to cut the opening at the plant. Hard to see in the pic if there is any slag, but does look like some extra cutting was done.
