I had some nos years ago

I remember having some of these and had no clue what they were..just curious, but, why did they have to ground the hood ? and other cars no?

I heard it was for the Radio to cut down Static.
Three out of Four of the 70 Chevelle SS's I have owned from 1984 had one of these originally.

One Person did not pay for one of these ground clips so I still have one available.
