Sound deadener
I am looking to duplicate the look of original sound deadener/undercoating that was sprayed inside the quarter panels inside the trunk. The original stuff has a very thick coarse like appearance. I have tried some spray on undercoating stuff which doesn't come close to the look I'm after. Does anyone have any ideas of what to use to get is close to original as possible? Thanks for any ideas anyone might have

I found this stuff which I think is what I need. Posting it in case anyone else may need it or if anyone knows there is something else. Thanks.

That's the stuff Bill. You will need the gun to apply it.

I have the same issue with a car that was undercoated at the dealer and needs a couple areas re-applied. The original stuff was asphalt based I think, so I was considering trying some driveway sealer, applied by patting it with a sponge to get a lumpy coating.

Lynn and Verne,
Thanks for your help with this. I am going to order the 3M stuff. I kind of like the driveway sealer idea but I am afraid it will bleed through the paint. Touching up under coating under the car might just work with the driveway sealer. Of course I just saw the thread on the Berlage trunk paint which I was not intending to do but I think I will also give that a try. |
Vern I have used asphalt based roof patching material. Comes in a one gallon size at Lowes or Home Depot.
